1. Scope and acceptance
These terms govern bookings for the tourism activities operated by Sota Adventure in Ollantaytambo and the Sacred Valley: rafting, zipline, horse riding, ATV quads, fishing and the Andean food experience. By confirming a booking or paying the deposit, the traveller confirms they have read and accepted these terms, also on behalf of everyone in their group.
2. Booking and confirmation
Bookings are requested via WhatsApp (+51 984 455 841) or email (sotaadventure@hotmail.com). A booking is only confirmed when Sota Adventure expressly confirms the date, time, pick-up point, group size and rate, and receives the deposit. This website does not process payments.
3. Rates
Rates are in Peruvian soles (S/), per person, and include exactly what is listed on each tour page. Several tours require a minimum of two people.
- Entrance fees marked as not included, such as Moray and the Maras salt pans on the ATV tour, are not included.
- For rafting, pick-up outside Ollantaytambo has an extra cost.
- Personal expenses, tips and services not described on the tour page are not included.
- Rates may change by season or operating costs; the rate confirmed at booking applies.
4. Payment
A deposit of 30% of the total rate is required to hold the date. The remaining 70% is paid before the activity starts. We accept cash in soles or in US dollars at the day's exchange rate, which we tell you before confirming, as well as Yape, Plin or bank transfer. Sota Adventure issues a receipt or invoice for every service. Bank or transfer fees are paid by the traveller.
5. Cancellation or changes by the traveller
The deposit is non-refundable, as it secures guides, equipment, transport and places. However, the traveller keeps the amount paid as credit to reschedule the same activity, or another of equivalent value, within one month of the originally booked date, subject to availability.
The traveller may transfer the booking to another person free of charge by letting us know before the activity starts, provided that person meets the tour requirements.
Failing to show up at the agreed place and time, or voluntarily leaving once the activity has started, does not entitle the traveller to a refund.
6. Cancellation or changes by Sota Adventure
Group safety always comes before the itinerary. Sota Adventure may suspend, shorten, change the route of or reschedule an activity due to bad weather, high or low river levels, road blockages, strikes, natural disasters, official orders, safety issues or if the minimum group size is not reached.
In such cases the traveller is offered a new date or an alternative activity of equivalent value at no extra cost. If neither option is possible, the amount paid for the part of the service not provided is refunded. These are the only compensations that apply.
7. Punctuality
Travellers must be at the agreed place at the agreed time. A delay that prevents the activity from being carried out safely or affects the rest of the group is treated as a no-show.
8. Health, safety and conduct
Adventure activities carry inherent risks (falls, knocks, cold water, animals and uneven terrain) that the traveller declares they understand and voluntarily accept. The traveller agrees to:
- Disclose any relevant health condition before the activity. Zipline is not recommended for people with heart or breathing conditions, and rafting requires knowing how to swim.
- Meet the minimum ages published on each tour page.
- Follow the guide's instructions at all times and use the safety equipment provided.
- Not take part under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Take care of the equipment provided and pay for damage caused by misuse.
9. Right to exclude
For safety reasons, the guide may prevent from taking part, or remove from the activity without refund, anyone who breaks these rules, hides health conditions, is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or endangers themselves or the group.
10. Minors
Minors take part with the permission and under the responsibility of their parent or guardian, and must meet each activity's minimum age. The person booking declares they have such permission.
11. Insurance
Every traveller is strongly advised to take out travel insurance covering accidents, medical care, evacuation and lost luggage, especially for adventure activities. Sota Adventure staff carry a first-aid kit and provide whatever immediate assistance is within their reach in the event of an incident.
12. Liability
Sota Adventure is responsible for the proper delivery of the services it operates directly, as provided by law. It is not liable for events beyond its control, such as natural phenomena, force majeure, acts of third parties or official orders; for harm resulting from failure to follow safety instructions or from undisclosed health conditions; or for the loss of or damage to personal belongings, electronic devices or money carried by the traveller. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
Where a service is provided by a third party (transport, meals, entrance tickets or accommodation), that third party is responsible for its own service, without prejudice to the obligations that tourism and consumer protection law place on the agency.
13. Use of images
Photos or videos may be taken during activities to promote our services. Travellers may object at any time, before or after the activity, by emailing sotaadventure@hotmail.com, and their image will not be published or will be removed. Images of minors are not published without express permission from their parent or guardian.
14. Complaints
Travellers may file a complaint in this website's virtual Complaints Book. Sota Adventure replies within the legal time limit. Filing a complaint does not prevent the use of other dispute resolution channels and is not a prerequisite for a claim before INDECOPI.
15. Child protection
Sota Adventure does not promote or permit the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. It will refuse any service linked to such conduct and report it to the competent authorities.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Peruvian law. The parties submit any dispute to the courts of the province of Urubamba or the city of Cusco, without prejudice to the rights consumer protection law grants the traveller. Sota Adventure may update these terms; each booking is governed by the version in force on its confirmation date. The Spanish version prevails in case of discrepancy between translations.
