Rafting & Pachamanca

A day that brings together adventure, culture and traditional Cusco flavours. We leave Ollantaytambo at 9:00 a.m. for our camp in Cachiccata, build a pachamanca stone oven together and, while the stones heat up, raft the Urubamba River for 1 to 2 hours with a professional guide. Back at camp we finish the pachamanca and have the lunch you prepared.

Day itinerary

  1. Departure to our camp

We leave Ollantaytambo at 9:00 a.m. in our own transport for the Cachiccata camp, enjoying the Sacred Valley views on the way.

  2. Prepare your own pachamanca

We build a small stone oven and heat the stones. Then we prepare the ingredients: different meats, potatoes and vegetables.

  3. Rafting adventure

While the stones heat up, we raft the Urubamba for 1 to 2 hours with a professional river guide and all the safety gear.

  4. Complete the pachamanca

Back at camp we place the ingredients in the hot stone oven, cover it with earth and let it cook for about an hour.

  5. Relax and enjoy

While we wait, you enjoy the countryside and fresh air of Cachiccata. Then we uncover the pachamanca and you have the meal you prepared.

  6. Return to Ollantaytambo

After the experience, we drive you back to Ollantaytambo.
